Job Purpose

 

  • HVAC engineers design HVAC systems that meet the specific needs of the agricultural environment, considering factors like crop type, livestock species, and the desired environment.
  • System Installation: They supervise the installation of these systems, ensuring they are correctly implemented and functioning as designed.
  • Routine Maintenance: HVAC engineers perform routine maintenance to keep systems running efficiently, preventing breakdowns and ensuring optimal performance.
  • System Optimization: They assess the performance of HVAC systems, identifying areas for improvement and optimization to enhance energy efficiency and productivity.
  • In greenhouses and other controlled environments, HVAC systems are crucial for maintaining optimal temperature and humidity levels, which directly impact crop growth, yield, and quality.
  • In livestock facilities, HVAC systems help regulate temperature and airflow, promoting animal health and well-being, reducing disease outbreaks, and improving productivity.
  • In food processing and storage facilities, HVAC systems are essential for maintaining the correct temperature and humidity to prevent spoilage and ensure food safety.

 

Salary

 

  • Salary: Salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
  • Pay Range: $40,000 minimum to $90,000 maximum

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Surveying sites ahead of fitting heating, ventilation or air conditioning systems.
  • Planning the placement of pipework, ducts and control panels.
  • Installing HVAC components
  • Performing quality checks to ensure systems are working efficiently and safely.
  • Carrying out maintenance on HVAC systems .
  • Finding and fixing faults.
  • Helping customers to reduce their energy use.
